Car insurance for 17 yr old (I know it's boring).Sorry!!!
Ok my boys 17 in October.I've been trying a few dummy quotes on comparison websites and I'm getting nowhere, best I got on a 1.3 ka was £3500!!!and that was with a £1300 excess, which I didn't ask for plus they only valued the car at guess what?£1300!!!good luck finding one like I've got for that price.
Anyway,I've seen a few tips on here with named drivers etc but this makes no real difference from what I've seen.
What I'd like is some feedback from 17yr olds on here who are currently insuring cars or parents who've done the same.I'm told the Ka is a bad choice for insurance cos it's considered a bit boy racerish (hmmmm) so I'd certainly consider other makes/models.
I'm expecting £2000 odd realistically as anything more than that's just silly.
He's not crazy to get a car surprisingly so I'm wondering if waiting til he's 18 would help?he'll still do his test at 17 but perhaps wait a bit til he gets on the road on his own.
I know it's a boring subject but I could do with some help as I've had trade insurance for 10 years so I'm well out of touch with it all!!!
