I know this is the wrong forum for this, but anyone have any experience in BMW autos?

Car is a 2002 330 petrol, and yesterday after an enthusuastic drive, A warniong light came up next to D on the clocks, and it remained in 3 or 4th gear, until it was left to cool.

The box was repaired before I bought the car at quite a cost. Is it firked, or would it benefit from an oil change or something?!
