Default 03 1.8 TDCI flashing glow plug light - not the same as the other threads :)

Hi All,

I realise this is a common fault and have read previous threads on this, but non seem to display the exact same problems as mine. I will get my diagnostics read when i can get the car back to the garage a bought it from (50miles away - and he isnt working weekends until Feb) so until then I was looking for help.

The fault:

occasionally engine glow plug flashes and car goes into limp home mode after approx 4 miles (always happens within the first 5-10 minutes of a journey if its going to happen)
The fault NEVER happens twice on a journey
The car does not cut out, just limp home mode, and always restarts fine - i just dip clutch and restart the engine to clear the problem.
The throttle responds fine, the engine pulls well and idles as it should when running.

Current list of potential fixes:
cam + cranks sensors replaced for the newer models (by garage before i bought it)
fuel filter changed
cam sensor cleaned
battery earths cleaned

I find this different to other failures as its so consitent in happening at the start of a journey and never happens twice, which leads me to believe its not as sinister as a fuel problem, and more likely electric

once again, I appreciate a diagnostics check may shine more light on the situation, but I am not paying for this to be done as it will be done by the garage I bought the car from once I can get there. Just wondered if there was any other cheap fixes I might be missing

Thanks

Joe
