Just because there isn't Mayo on the cap is NOT conclusive proof of a HG as it depends on the location where the blow is. A sure way of telling is if it's loosing coolant?
Cap is a cheap thing to try.

Not loseing water now it not cuming bk out the bottle now had sum one look at it today and they said headgasket has not gone but the tick over problem is to do with the iscv going wrong they said and the vss needs changing as well
