I would say snapped mate. Bets thing is to use a stud extractor kit.
You drill a hole and stick in the stud extractor and as it's fluted in the opposite direction of the threads when you turn it it bites into the shaft of the bolt and brings it out. Just be careful when drilling it out that the drill doesn't wander
