Hi all,ive just joined and this is my first post.
I have a y reg ford focus estate 1.8 tddi, i brought this very recently to save money on fuel cost, insurance etc.
My plan was to drive to poland in it where i was getting married.
I done the usual oil change fuel filter etc and the car was running like a dream.
Anyway got as far as berlin in it when i pulled into a petrol station and it just cut out. After a very long wait for the breakdown guy to arrive he said bell had slipped a tooth and engine was 'kaput' anyway got it recovered and my mechanic looked at it and said it snapped a camshaft belt bending a valve or two in the process when it was restarted.
So we changed the belts (ford original) water pump (why not as were changing everything else) head gasket set bolts, and of course all new valves. So a head rebuild

So he has done that...no problems got it started with easy start and the engines running.Alot of smoke came out at first but started to clear. Its running but it seems to be hunting for revs and wont start without the easy start. He has tried diagnostics but nothings to be found there infact it came with ford escort which the tddi is from but still nothing to be found, he has cleaned the erg valve checked the tapits and shims but nothing, belts are timed correctly. He thinks maybe fuel injectors but he dont really know. Please can someone help me with this because this is getting very expensive and im at my wits end

Why would the injectors be at fault now when they were working before

If its running could it be something silly or has he not done something when rebuilding it. Or could a sensor be gone?
A few of his mechanics friends are stubbed to.....
Is there any diesel gurus out there who are familiar with this problem or who thinks they know what it could be????
Thanks for any replys good or bad in advance!
