At the risk of asking a potentially stupid question, what would cause the pulley lugs to "break off"? It's not like they're bearing any kind of load, they just pass in front of an inductive sensor. :S
Not really a common problem, but it's been known to happen, some idiots hit them when trying to remove the crank pulley, which of course does not help.
