my car always used to drop to 1000rpm when i was on the move in neutral or with the clutch pedal depressed, that was ok, coz that's how it's supposed to be, but 1200rpm is wrong, it's too high.

eg - i'm crawling in traffic and i'm at 1300rpm 1st gear, and i want 2nd, so i change, since the revs don't drop to 1Krpm (like they should) but hang at 1200rpm when i slowly engage the clutch i'm actually slowing the engine down with the clutch/box so it drops to 1000rpm, this is NOT how it's supposed to be. constantly slowing the engine down with the clutch to get gearchanges in the low rpm's.....
