I've looked into this as the low down Torque on the 1.6 is dire (as you probably know).
You would need the full engine bay loom. Although probably not that hard but for the price you'd be better off buying a 2.0.
I'm swaying more towards looking for a low mileage lump and getting SS4 cams fitted in the future which will be around 155bhp with a good remap.
Getting a 2.0 is an option for me, but only because my parents wouldn't be too happy if I get rid of the car they've just given me and forked out trying to get it to drive right. My Mum's had the car since it was brand new and even if the car had 3 wheels, aslong as it drove she'd think it was fine! Low and behold I was given it and the front suspension was truley nackered
