I am all out of ideas so was hoping some of you guys can help me out as I am having major problems with my wireless network.
I moved house a couple of months ago and signed up with BeThere, had stonking reviews and met my needs exactly.
The internet was fine for 10 weeks, no problems at all, wireless worked, wired worked, no slow down no nothing.
A couple of weeks ago I started to have some problems, my wireless internet would just at random times, intermittently drop for no reason what so ever. The laptop I was using would disconnect from the router and the network would disapper from the list of available networks on my laptop only to reappear about 30 seconds later (sometimes longer than 30 seconds but generally around this time)
I tried everything, such as changing channels, setting manual IPs for the network adapter and so forth and still the same thing happened over and over.
I then decided that the Router had died a death and needed a new one so went out and bought an Edimax router as they had outstanding reviews.
After finally getting it setup......... The exact same thing happened. I am at a loss, Never had an ADSL connection before, always had cable so im appealing to you guys!
When connected via Ethernet, the connection is flawless. No problems and no disconnections at all. nothing has changed in my house, no new gadgets or anything that could interfere with the connection or anything
Troubleshooting so far:
1/. Change wireless channels - Tried 4 different channels
2/. Change SSID / WEP Key
3/. Update firmware of modem router
4/. Set manual IPs for the wireless adapter on the laptop
5/. Tried on 4 different laptops, all experience the same problem
6/. Turning off my cordless phones (someone told me this could interfere with the connection - Didnt fix it)
I am at an absolute loss what to do but it is so frustrating as I work from home so have to sit uncomfy next to the router and I really want my wireless back
