To the OP - If you're getting a cheaper, more leggy Mondeo I'd probably opt for the TDDI. It is more agricultural, not quite as frugal and not as quick - but if they do have pump/injector problems they cost less to put right - although you have got twice the number of pumps to worry about as they have a lift pump whereas the TDCIs don't.

As for MPG - it all depends on how you drive. But mixed urban I'd expect around 40mpg ish.
Yes, I too have seen it but I have witnessed to my own cost the effects of poor quality (yet was within spec) fuel which ruined the injectors the moment the fuel ran through it. Fuel was tested to 4.78% biodiesel with minimal water in it yet stuck 4 sets of injectors shut. I just recommend to anyone that they use the best fuel they can after being bitten like that.

You can get replacement high pressure pumps for around £500 now but the injectors are still about £150 each.
