Agreed, don't crunch anything, never a good idea

I understand why your having problems though as it confused the hell out of me when I built my cvh, I bought goetze rings and all the pack showed was a diagram if the ring positions. I think Rob DOHC had a similar problem and I don't think he used cheap rings either.
