Reason I ask is I am having very similar probs to what you describe. Works when cold but a doesn't as soon as its hot.
Am hoping the fluid is just low but I have no idea how old the box actually is but does not crunch or whine.
No I didnt fix it! The main shaft snapped clean in two a little while later when doing a 3rd gear flat out run so I scrapped the box

IMO it was an old shit box and had not been rebuilt as it was supposed to be.
My Sport Ka box has been spot on though
