Maybe a pinto 2L conversion, much more potential that way as well.
The pierburg I think in them is a 2E3, in which case it is actually a very underated carb, I've replaced webers for these in the past, all picked up power and mpg at the same time.
If so it is I seem to remember a vac secondary ?, if so cut 1 1/2 coils of the spring off, the secondary will open sooner, this will make a difference, and it's free.
A huge amount of these carbs made it out the factory with a incompletely drilled through vac stub for the choke vac pull down and caused all sorts of troubles, taken loads off drilled all the way through, end of trouble with chokes.
