My c20let was built my chris astley and lasted 2k miles, apr rod bolts, new mahles, cometic 1.9mm, recon k16, xe inlet cam and adjustable pulley, eds ph2,actuator, tx £2 downpipe and exhaust, etc... lasted 8 days in my ownedship
Thats what i mean mate. If you had a modified engine built and it only lasted 2000 miles, then it obviously wasnt done right to start with. Thats not to say the C20LET is bad engine, but they'll always be a few that are not done right, or are 'over modified', and that goes for C20LET, YB or any other engine for that matter.

Oh and if i remeber correctly (its been a few years since i was into vauxhalls ) the porous heads are not a problem on the LET, that was only a problem on the XE's.

Like any engine really, if its maxed out or poorly done, it wont last long.

Standard, mildly tuned, or modified properly and within its limits and you shouldnt have much to worry about.
