I've had a couple and a guy I know is a bit of a whizz on these things - all the cliosport lot suck him off big time ( Fred - nice guy he is aswell - he had one of my 172's off me )
It aint just ph2 its all of them as they run a pulley to diver the aux belt over the cross member.
Anyways - he looked at mine because it had a whine told me what it was - dephaser/diverter pulley - they go all the time and shred the aux belt which takes out the cam belt.
With the engine switched off you can get to it and if it rattles its fucked and needs changing but its a fucker of a job to do.
12 months later and it shredded the aux belt - I was lucky as I caught it before is scrapped the engine.
The belt is £8 the pulley is £50 ish - the biggest problem is the tensioner £100 ish) (which doesn't often fail ) as it needs a special tool to slacken etc to change the pulley and belt.
Renault say every 36k for aux belt/pulley and 72k for cambelt
Its very common - its like a Alfa Twin Cam - change the belt every 36k and you're mint don't and it'll scrap the engine unless you're LUCKY.
