Like the Vauxhall V6 in the vectra's. Tensioner bearing siezes then throws the belt off.

Problem being in most cases people listen to ford/Vaux/Renault and the likes and take for granted that a belt can last XX amount of miles.

Not sure if the OP has mentioned but as it had low mileage (under 50k) was the belt changed after 4 years?
