The point about the fuel is that if its been tuned for SUL and fairly close to the edge too, putting 95RON in it can and probably will cause detonation, which can result in a partially/fully melted/broken piston etc etc. So there is a possibility of it being that.

Putting the wrong fuel in it wouldn't result in fuel out of the exhaust in any case, so the oil smoke doesn't really narrow it down.

I'm still with the idea of it being the turbo and the next thing I would do is to pull the turbo intake hose off and check for play in the shaft for starters.
