Default Changing green ledS TO

ooops, messed up with the title.
LEDs can be any colour you want, the method is the same

Been meaning to do this for a while, finally got around to doing it,
cheers Alan (Albogti) who gave me some of the Led's.

This was done on my RS2K MK6, but the principal is the same i imagine
for other cars.

First of all decide what colour you want, i went for blue (original).
You will need 7 3mm blue LEDs and 7 resisters (to up the power to 12 volts), 2 for the heated front and rear screens,
2 for the front and rear fog lights, and 3 for the electric windows and boot release.
AND a lot of patience

The 8mm red Leds in picture are replacing my footwell lights BTW.
The first step is to remove the switch you want to change the colour of, here it is the fog switch, remove as shown

Disconnect the 2 plugs by pushing in a tab and release

Now the easy bit is over, the fiddly bits start. First push in the 4 tabs and release the switch from the housing,
be patient they do come out!

Then you have this once removed

Where the 2 lights meet is the earth point

Leds only work one way so make sure you get the contacts right and check before putting everything back together.
On the Leds the shorter wire is earth, another way of checking is hold the Led to the light and inside you can see
2 pieces of metal, the bigger of the 2 is the earth.
Cut and remove the Led you are removing, the one in the centre on the demister and fog switches

Place the Led and solder to the contact, shown is the led connected to the earth point

Then solder the rsister to the positive wire (does n't matter which way it goes) and then solder to the contact,
i cleaned the excess solder off before fitting

Once you are happy that it is connected proberly and all the excess solder is removed, check to make sure it works

Repeat on the other side of the switch, then do the
other 2 switches the same way, then put it all back together, very carefully then admire all your hard work

The electric window and boot release is done the same way as the above.

All the switches had the resister on the positive wire so wire the same way and you should have no problems. It is fiddly but worth it.

Once again, cheers Alan mate
