As much as I'm all for using genuine inks, that does sound like a tall story that Canon are telling their staff in their training programme. If non-OEM inks were too thick and causing problems, I'm sure the non-OEM manufacturer would simply change the spec.
That said, I think refilling cartridges is a bit pikey.
Wouldn't surprise me if it was a load of crap

but I wouldn't wanna risk my £200 printer to save a few ££'s. If it was under £100 I wouldn't be so bothered if I used a lot of ink.
