Take your point but you can get the mix in basecoat and laquer so you could do it that way,put colour over the repairs/redone paintwork and just laquer into the wings to blend,I don't like edge to edge.
aslong as iv painted i never heard any one mixing diamond white or any old ford colour in base coat
most likely if you take it some were
now they will match it in water base so will do wings anyway
