You can break a gripper, I broke the cross shaft in mine a while ago but when you get them serviced they can see if the shaft has worn. I've still got the smashed bits somewhere.
the shaft was £30 ish plus a couple of planet gears I think the total rebuild of the diff was £180.
They are the bollocks though
I am thinking of trying the Titan diff because its supposed to be a lot more progressive.
