hey was wondering if you could help me, i have a v reg escort van 1.8 diesel.

it has very bad starting problems. but once started it fine and will then start first time for the rest of the day. the red light flashes when the van has just started for a min or so but then goes out. iv changed the glow plugs and put in a one way valve between the fuel filter primer and the pump but none of this has made any difference. iv also check theres feed at the glow plugs.

so long story short am i right in thinking its either the pump or a solenoid issue on the pump. or air in the system possibly from the filter primer?

if anyone has any suggestion i would be so greatful.
