Just bridge the solenoid terminals to make sure the motor part is not jammed, this will not engage the starter merely cause it to spin, the ngagement part being done prior to spinning by the solenoid.
As it was working before chances are it is fine, so you need to find why it is not getting enough oompf from the battery, or cable problem.
Did you reconnect the starter wire that has a disconnet terminal near the battery, about 6" away a thinner wire ?

yeah that little thin wire is conected the same time the +(pos) cable from the battery conect's due to the plastic housing ford use for it... ive bridged the + & - terminals on the sm together n they spark, Ive conected the sm with the plastic housing, and then gone direct from the Negative on the battery direct to the s-m with a jump lead, gettin someone to turn the ignition, But it just clicks again,, Havent managed to get the gear to spin or Engage

Same results on 2 different s-m.
