If all I was doing was spending money out though and getting no time spent or enjoyment from it, I would probably give it up too when money got tight, but as it is I can still enjoy my hobby even if I had little income.
Same here, I really want the car finished so I can drive it, but building it in anticipation and analysing every decision is most of the fun for me. If I had to save by working, to pay for the parts/services and then to ue t properly had to then pay more for trackdays, I would have given up long ago as the house is more important to me financially.
On the other hand, give it ten years when Im making a little more money hopefully, and possibly have family, and then I guess my time will become more precious and Id rather spend out on one trackday a month, then spend half that money to have 3 weekends in the garage.
