If someone says "he builds F1 engines" then to me it sounds like they are talking about something they are doing with F1 now not that he's just rebuilding old basic stuff from 30 years ago which is simpler than a civic engine to go shopping with.
What about when people mention F1 spec turbos or wastegates ? or does not count as they obviously do not use turbocharged engines anymore ?
If someone says an F1 turbo we all know what they mean, as it refers to such a short period in time, but when you say F1 engine it could mean anything from 1950 engines so basic any local engineering firm would have no trouble building one, just like you or I or Joe, or it could mean the engines they use now in which case its cutting edge stuff, so its just such a vague term I dont really see any point in using it, as to most people its misleading and doesnt imply building 30 year old engines that any of us could easily build anyway.
