Like I said mate, I'd get in contact with a solicitor, she can't deny you the right to see your child.
At the end of the day, it's upto you. If you feel that he will be better of without you then you can't help that, your feelings could change towards him in 12 months though and you might want more involvement in his life, if you haven't made an effort now then a court/judge will take that into consideration at a later date should you choose to go down some sort of custody route.
Again, if you want any advise or help arranging to see a solicitor let me know, pretty clued up on shit like this since me and the ex broke up, showed her that she can't use him as a bargaining chip to get what she wants.
