Yeah my mum brought me up alone and I never had any money of my Dad and its not easy now. I pay my board as my mum doesn't earn alot but together the money keeps us going, although doesn't leave much for me to do anything with.

As said, for something to do I would get a project car mate. Even if you just take it apart clean it up and put it back together then sell it again it will still pass the time and if you are just messing about with it then it shouldn't cost you much.
