its a 2 stage one fan switch, the fan(s) cuts in at low speed at about 98'c and then the high speed cuts in at 110'c
its the way it was designed by ford and has worked well, but to me its two hot to run and so after rebuilding a ecos engine for a friend we decided to fit a saph 4x4 switch and it runs cooler now, the only thing is that they run more frequently but its on the safe side of 100'c,
msd do a moded fan switch to operate just a little higher than the 4x4 one, this is because the thermostat range and the 4x4 fan switch range sometimes work against each other but its not to big an issue and wont cause overheating,
would agree, my fan cuts in around 96c, slow fan but has never got hot enough to run then at full speed. I have also been told about the Saphire switch running at lower temps.
I have never had a overheating problem and would assume its ok as that's the way Ford built it.
