I have a MK1 Sierra which I'm considering doing an engine conversion on. It currently has a 2.3 V6 Cologne engine and I'm considering the following options:

1. 2.9 24 valve Cosworth engine from a granada or scorpio.

2. 3.0 24 valve engine from the present mondeo i.e. ST220.

The advantage of the newer engine being its slightly larger capasity and the fact that it has an alloy block so should be quite a bit lighter.

However, I am not sure if it is possible to fit these engines to the Sierra as they are obviously designed for front wheel drive and also if a suitable gearbox can be mated to it.

Can any of you advise?
