I was going to do it, but people keep telling me I am going to far so just use brick walls.
The beam isn't actually holding anything up, I just put it there for piece of mind.
The joists are very close centres and 7inches deep and span the width of the house, they never rested on the wall but went through it.
I just dont want to walk around up stairs and everything vibrate so I stuck a joist up- an over sized joist that is.
Not to disagree either but of all the people I asked (which is quite a lot - baring in mind I am in the construction industry myself) they all said do what I have done then jack the beam up and pack out any gap at the top of the pillars with slate and then point round the slate.
But cheers for the concern, I have it covered.
Nah its fine, it wont go anywhere. My thoughts were that if it is overseen by BC, they will or should want it sat on Padstones thats all!
