Hi all

The mrs's 52 plate 1.4 fiesta has broken down, luckily just outside her work so I've pushed it back to the car park.

Basically the engine management light came on (she wasn't sure if it was flashing or not), and it started running like a bag of crap. She pulled over and it died and would not restart.

I went down and tried to start it. It would not start without throttle, but it would go if I gave it plenty of gas and it would misfire madly, but when I let the throttle off the management light starts flashing and it conks out.

I have plugged in my cheapy diagnostics box that I have used before with my focus, but it says connection error. Possibly its in-compatible with her car, I don't know.

I'm off down later to tow it home so I can investigate further. Any ideas of what it could be? My thoughts were coil pack but surely it would run, just very roughly?

A mechanic mate who I phoned says core plugs can leak, leaking coolant into the spark plug area, however I didn't have any tools at the time to be able to check it. Its not lost any coolant from the header tank though.
