Yes what you do is you cut the earth return for the amal valve and fit a switch inline, what this does it when the switch is closed allows maximum boost (as it is now) and when you break the connection i.e open the switch the boost is sent straight to the actuator instead of being bled off and hence you run lower boost.

Allthough it's called boost control it isnt really and will not gain you any power.
