if you got your cam with uprated valve springs, had the timing set properly, and actually ran it in properly, surely it would be good.
from the look of the spec the kent cvh34 does exactly what i want,1500-7000rpm,that combined with the T25BB i want should make for a quick road car, i hope.
Right, again, slowly this time, OK?

Years ago, Kent and Piper were OK. They used to use good quality camshaft blanks and followers because there were a few aftermarket companies manufacturing these parts. These days, most of the companies making parts like this have long since deleted the CVH from their production runs, leaving Kent and Piper with no choice but to use poor quality materials as its pretty much all thats available.

You didn't think they actually made the cam blanks and followers did you? They are NOT made of stronger material.

If you were to use a follower that was of a different material to the camshaft, or vice versa, one would wear the other VERY quickly.

Because Newman go about it in an entirely different way, they use Chill-cast camshaft blanks and a follower made by them from a material that matches, this is why it stands a chance of lasting. It's not 100%, but its the best solution out there.

Even Ford. News flash here too, they don't make their parts! Wow, how about that!! Ford parts are outsourced and thats why I don't even trust their camshafts/followers any more.

Take the head gaskets and sump gaskets. Payen used to make them and they were ace quality. However, in recent years, althought they still use Payen to make the head gaskets, they use someone else for the sump gaskets and they are CRAP. So, don't even assume that because its Ford, it will be better.

Some of us have been doing this for years. Nobody is arguing that Kent and Piper don't have some great profiles, but if the material is like toffee, it's not going to work, is it?
