Far quicker than a 20 mm long by 5mm thick magnet as not all the 5 ltrs of oil go directly over the magnet , but it does go through the filter quite often
The only way debri can get into the engine and bearings is when you change your oil and contminate the filter while your scrabbling around to fit it.
