If you look at the sender carefully you will notice there is a plastic seperator between inner and outer, usually coloured a certain colour for/to denote resistance for matching to gauge.
Just earth the new hose sender holder, I assume it's metal ?, then the sender will work, if the correct one and the gauge is ok as it seems to be it will read correct.

iv tried but no luck maybe it could be the guage knackered or could it be the wrong sender??
