The cable, or rather the quadrant is self adjusting, The easy way to get it to reset and self adjust is lift the pedal, then with your thumb push the quadrant forwards at the top, this will take off the adjustment so when pedal is let go and then pressed a few times it wil click away self adjusting.

I had to fiddle about with mine in the distant past to get it to 'reset' - it's not played up since but if it did I think I'd go for the GGR or or R and B type as in the links above
