it was along those lines, the egmo cars had not been altered just for Bathurst and had run that way in the previous rounds of the WTCC but the ATCC read the rules differently to the rest of the ruling bodies and took away the win from the Sierras after the race, lot of local politics involved, they didnt like overseas teams winning the great race.

Egmo adjusted the cars after that, they had even had slightly wider lips to the outer rims made for the BBS wheels to widen them that were not available to the other teams.

It was a grey area and the rules were then firmed up for the later seasons to prevent it.
