If you're intent on keeping it then just modify your beam, cut a section out and have a strengthening piece welded in. That's the way i'd do it as most garages can weld steel & you're gambling with grinding the ribs off of the diff housing.

Ok ... I have been thinking about this too, but I have the car on stands in my garage and cant do welding myself :-(
I just find it strange that the company just tell's me this ...
"It looks as though the new case that we used is the later heavy duty reinforced case(from the Granada Scorpio), if the larger ribs on this case is in the way of your mount please cut them back to allow 2-3mm of clearance to the mount and it will be fine"
