Hellow u guys, i'm quite new here. Have been reading Pf for like 2 months now since Victor was building his orange Cabrio. I know Victor more or less personally. Thought it would be cool to place some pictures over here.
I've got an XR3i from 88 but unfortunately the engine died. The oilpump stopped and some parts of the engine suffered from severe oil-starvation ergo End of Story.
First some pics of trying to get the engine back together before i knew that the pump was broken.
The way i got my ford,
When the shit happened and i got working on the car
Then i was trying to rebuild the engine (with the broken oilpump) unfortunately i didn't know the pump was broken at the time (i'm no car-specialistic mechanic)
Anyway on the original head one valve was broken, one cam was nokked to death and a rocker died so i had to buy a replacement. Which was chemically cleaned, got new valveseals and was thuroughly tested and found good enough.
Then i drove the car for like 2 weeks. At first it worked like a dream. It accelerated nicely and stuff but not everything was quite normal and one day the oil-indicator started burning. At that time the engine was tikking like hell and i didn't realize soon enough that it was getting at it's end. And so he died.
Well, what to do?
I just graduated, have no job. What the hell should i do with my beloved XR3i, give it a nice RE-DO.
1st i want a new engine off course, i've aquired a 115HP Zetec (1800) with the entire loom. it cost me 150 Euro's
I'm going to mount it on a RS Turbo LSD gearbox with a new AP or Sachsclutch attached to it. But 1st i need to make sure that i find a suitable 220mm EFI Flywheel. Cuz i'm keeping the engine management from the zetec.
I also aquired RS Turbo brake calipers which will hold 260mm ventilated discs and EBC Greenstuff.
I'm going to put the entire suspension on PU Bushes.
After the engine has been done, the entire body will be stripped and gets the special anti-rust treatment. The entire drivers-side of the car will become new. And a Respray, i simply love the original red color!
And there's a load of other aestethic things i want like white OZ Superturismo's
Anyway... there's more i've done so far
In the meantime i've stripped the engine bay. Got out the broken lump, i've loaded all parts in the back
My engine came out in a very special way. I got the head of and the sump. Then i hadn't anything to lift the engine out of the enginebay...
The angle was a bit tricky
It had to land somewhere, so i put an old table and a lot of cardboard on the floor and pulled the engine thru the radiatorhole... it worked perfectly
The engine bay almost empty now (except for the kookingpan
And out came the lump. which i dissassembled immediately. I found no damage on the main bearings, but hey the zetec arrives on friday so the new lump will get it's new chance
Ill keep u guys informed!
