I went to Thailand last xmas and got a bolt stuck in my shin when I hired a bike out there, I drifted into some massive pot hole and got my leg wedged against a barrier that had the rusty bolt sticking out. Blood poured out for an hour or so but looked ok after that but as I was back packing about I thought it would have been ok if I kept it clean so I was in & out of the sea etc and then it started going black with puss leaking out etc - by the time I flew home a week later my leg from the knee down was massively swollen. Billycabrio picked us up from the airport & took me straight to A&E after I had gone to the chemist to ask for some anti-inflamation tablets - they said get to the hospital ASAP, I did and the hospital said I was really lucky as I could have died on the plane as the blood had clottted etc.

I had to have all the dead tissue cut out and a skin graft - couple of pics
