Default help needed bleeding transit diesel! - fixed

got an ldv with a 2.5 transit non turbo lump. a mate told me to drain the fuel filter as they collect water, and ask mine had been sat for a while and didnt want to start this morning, it sounded about right. he thought they were automatic bleeding, but since dropping the arse of the filter out to drain some of its contents, the van cranks over, fires/coughs and thats my lot, so im assuming i do need to bleed it.

how do i do that?!

took out the little bung on the top of the filter head thinking that would alow any air to escape, but there seemed to be only a very tiny ammount of air in there.

theres no plunger, no bulb, no lever to pump, the only thing i can see that may be of some use to me is a nipple looking thing on the left of the fuel pump, would this be where i bleed it from? if so whats the proceedure?
