have they used water based paint or solvent? in fairness you be able to polish straight away,iv flatted my previous cars with 2000 grit wet and dry and machine polished with g3 as soon as its come out the bodyshop so i wouldnt worry about applying wax or polish, use autoglym super resin followed by autoglym hd wax thats what i use on my white s2 and it gives great results
