Default Dogs & Training

having had dogs (collie sheep dogs) all my life and moving out recently has meant that coming home in the evenings has been a bit crap and meant me missing having a dog, so the missus and i have budgeted to get one this weekend.

My parents currently have 2 dogs, however i was about 13-14 when we got them and at that age i didnt take much notice to training, more interested in going out .

anyone on here have any tips on training from a puppy? will be one from a farm, and we have plenty of fields (see link below for surrounding area)

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&so...=UTF8&t=h&z=15

so can take for plenty of long walks without going too far, and it can socialise with others as my parents aint too far away (5 mins walk across country) so it can "play" with them and also learn a few things. is there anything else that could be of use? cheers
