There could be a problem this late, they might be behind schedule already and only just ran a test recently that is causing a problem. A mate at work was telling me they were all ready for the new suzuki vitara to be rolled out but it turns out the turbo is overheating when going uphills all day long, so they wont supply a warrenty with the engine, other than that its mostly ready. Ford might have a similar problem situation, where it all seemed ok, until someone looked back over the data for a final QA.
