if its just to make them shiney then dont bother as a small corbon build up can actualy improve he piston seal and cylinder leakage
if your pistons/bores are even slightly worn then i'd say renew,
best to only do it once, do it right 1st time then forget about it
if you gotta keep stripping it down you'll get sick of it and want rid of it
