Its not a pisstake im afraid its just that effectively you are a new driver with no experience in driving so you're classed as high risk

Unfortunately the statistics are not beneficial to your age as a large % of young newly qualified drivers either drive like idiots, cause high value accidents, drive under influence, etc, etc, etc so you are in the same bracket until you gain experience

I've had my license over 11 & 1/2 years & i still remember back in '97 after passing my test & having to fork out £1500 to insure a 1.3 lx escort

It does get better though - get 2 years accident & point free dricing under you & your premiums will be a fair bit lower at which point you should be able to get insurance on an RS
