Hi this sounds like the same problem i had on a mondeo there is a small solenoid on the throttle body (think its called a cold start solenoid) if it doesn't buzz when you turn the ignition on it's fooked. Mondeo was a v reg and had hundreds spent on it previous to me buying it, the solenoid cost £30 from fle bay! had exact symptoms as your focus.
Solenoid has small loom comming off it.
