Are you sure it's 2.54 not 3.54 Rod? Might be a typo as that sounds a hugely long Ratio?
. Mine is 3.54 LSD powerlock, believe most older jags had them?

The drive shafts are made as far as I am aware from the front half of a cossie propshaft, one end UJ one end CV joint
