recently pricing a job in manchester for partitions and ceilings, a new office block near the MEN.

we found out some rates that a rival firm were paying there fixers for partitions,

£2.50 for metal (thats the stud)

.80p for board, those are both per linear metre.

now that mightnot make any sense, but bear in mind that my company has NEVER paid below £3.50/lm Metal and £1.60/lm board, its a huge difference! fixer prices are going south, and the lads are not happy, but its how companies are winning jobs!

its a tough time out there for anyone in construction.

my dads been made redundant from a Project Managers position in a very big company.

im very lucky at the minute as my company is v busy, just hope we can keep work coming in, our estimator is pricing jobs alllllll the time at the moment just to get as much work as possible.
